Less than six decades before today, there was no such thing as a supercar. The credit for making the world’s first supercar goes to Ferruccio Lamborghini, for without his genius, supercars might still have been a mere concept.
The story of Ferruccio Lamborghini and his company is quite an interesting one. Continue reading and find out how the first supercar was made in this brief history of the Lamborghini.
From Scrap to Vehicle
Its common knowledge that Lamborghini started as a truck manufacturing company. However, only a few know how this truck manufacturing company was formed. Unlike its known competitors, the company didn’t carry a long tradition behind it. Rather, it was started by Ferruccio Lamborghini in his workshop.
Ferruccio Lamborghini used discarder material from World War II to produce the first tractor in his garage. Surprisingly, Ferruccio was one hell of a mechanic himself. He was referred to as a ‘master mechanic’ by the people around him and was famous for his mechanical mind. Long before beginning his tractor manufacturing company, Ferruccio was a mechanic at the Italian Air Force Garrison. Some unauthentic sources also reveal that he was taken as a war prisoner by the British army at the end of WWII.
Enzo Ferrari Had No Idea About The Farmer’s Knowledge!
In less than a decade, Ferruccio’s tractor manufacturing company gained nationwide success. By this time, Ferruccio had several sports cars in his garage. One of his favorite cars was the Ferrari. However, one day Ferruccio Lamborghini observed that his Ferrari had a faulty clutch. At this point, Ferrucio tried to repair the issue himself only to find out that his expensive Ferrari used the same clutch as he used to produce his tractors.
When Ferruccio Lamborghini highlighted this in front of Enzo Ferrari, the latter didn’t take the critique well and responded by saying that a tractor driver and a farmer shouldn’t complain about one of the world’s finest cars. Hearing this, Ferruccio got infuriated and replied that he will make a better sports car than Ferrari. Hence, began the new era of Lamborghini, which soon produced the world’s first supercar.
Ferruccio Lamborghini’s genius is still reflected in Lamborghini’s basic frame, which is pretty much the same to date.
